Executive Director Rainbow Therapeutic Riding Center - Haymarket, VA
We’re a growing non-profit with a great mission: as a premier therapeutic riding facility in Northern Virginia, accredited by PATH International, we help children and adults with physical, cognitive, and developmental challenges achieve a higher quality of life and reach personal milestones. In addition, we create innovative opportunity programs for youth and serve veterans on their path of recovery.
Our programs grew significantly in size, demand and impact over the last few years. And we have become an anchor for the communities we serve.
We are looking for an Executive Director to lead the organization through our next stages of development. Someone who is attuned to people, programs and community impact. A strong connector and relationship builder who can strengthen the rewarding relationships we have and develop mutually beneficial new ones. A business minded person with a heart that understands the essence of serving a community, coupled with an ability for hands-on decision-making that is underlined by a strategic focus, vision of the future we’re creating, and long-term viability of the center.
You will be working at a state of the art riding center, with indoor and outdoor riding rings, offices, viewing area and a brand new barn.
You will lead and supervise the operations, fundraising and communications for the center. Ensure the financial viability, further growth and well-being of the overall organization.
You will supervise and manage staff, interact with the community and partner organizations and report to our Board of Directors.
This is a full-time salaried position.
Oversee all aspects of the organization and staff in accordance with governance directives of the Board of Directors
Ensure effective Board, Board development, staff and community communication
Develop, implement and lead organization in accordance with the Strategic Plan
Develop and maintain relationships with donors, organizations and professionals
Develop staff and programs to ensure quality, sustainability and continuity of the organization and to maintain premiere status in the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH International)
What you’ll need to be successful in this role:
Bachelor’s degree in business, or Higher Education in related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Equine management experience strongly desired
A solid track record for fundraising and grant writing
Experience in communications, PR, strategic planning and cause marketing
Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, including direct supervision of staff and responsibility for developing and achieving budget goals
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
Ideally, 3+ years non-profit management
If you have experience in equine-assisted therapy, this would be a big plus
Business acumen, a results-oriented work attitude, excellent people skills, coupled with a strong networking ability and an innovative approach to program development should be natural assets in your personal skills portfolio.
